A stronger team, with the same commitment to you.

Sandman Structural Engineers has acquired Mattson Macdonald Young, bringing together two firms that share a focus on quality, service, and long-term client relationships. This step allows us to expand our capacity and offer additional expertise—while continuing to operate with the same teams, processes, and level of care you expect. Your projects, your contacts, and our commitment to delivering dependable structural solutions remain unchanged.

Why are we combining forces?

Our firms closely align with a shared commitment to building trusted relationships that stand
the test of time. We both have a deep commitment to our mission to ‘Enable the Success of our
Clients and our Team.’ With a combined effort focused on client success, we will continue to
serve you in a greater capacity with the same quality and excellence in customer service. Your
success is our success. We want to continue to grow so we can support the exciting growth of
our customers.

What are the goals of the acquisition?

Our goal is to expand our capacity and strengthen our ability to serve you. This industry is built on trusted relationships and a commitment to delivering quality and service that is above industry standards. As we grow, we believe we can make an even greater positive impact on our industry, the communities we support, and society as a whole. We truly believe we are saving lives every time the wind blows.

Will the acquisition impact current projects?

Your current projects will move forward exactly as expected, and every commitment made will be met. Our team members will continue to support and complete each project, ensuring continuity from start to finish. You’ll continue working with the same team members with added resources available whenever needed. Our standards for client care remain unchanged, and the expanded team is equally committed to delivering the same level of service you trust.

Will there be any changes to the project manager?

Your existing project managers will stay with your projects because they carry the deep understanding and long-built knowledge needed to see them through successfully. You will continue to receive the same dependable support you’ve come to expect, and our commitment to serving you remains firm and unchanged.

New market capabilities.

In addition to the deep level of experience in our three practice areas of Commercial, Hospitality & Housing, and Industrial Services, our new team members bring to us extensive experience in historic preservation of structures. This includes preservation of buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as reimagining historic spaces through thoughtful adaptive-reuse design.

Where will we serve you?

Our new team members will operate from our existing office in Minneapolis. Our collective organization will continue to serve you locally, regionally, and nationally from all three of our offices in Minnesota: Moorhead, Minneapolis, and Brainerd.
